About

I joined WCA in 2019 after interning at McClelland & Stewart and several years of working in the non-book world. As a born and raised Torontonian, I also feel grateful to have been able to call Hong Kong, Los Angeles, and the UK my homes at different points in time. I initially worked in our rights department, representing WCA’s authors to an international audience. Having become an associate agent in 2023, I provide support to Jackie, Hilary, and their clients, and I also represent a curated list of authors of book club fiction, select literary fiction and non-fiction, and children’s books. I’ve been honoured to speak at events organized by Humber School for Writers, The Festival of Literary Diversity, The Writers’ Union of Canada, and BIPOC of Publishing in Canada.

Fiction Open

I’m looking for book club novels that are propulsive and well-paced like Celeste Ng’s body of work; feature unforgettable, irresistibly lovable characters like those in Bonnie Garmus’ Lessons in Chemistry; vividly and powerfully bring history to life like Maggie O’Farrell’s The Marriage Portrait; and are provokingly and brilliantly multi-layered like R.F. Kuang’s Yellowface. As I’ll consider select literary fiction submissions, I’d love to see stories that feel so atmospheric and wisely observed that they almost blur fiction and reality like Deepa Anappara’s Djinn Patrol on the Purple Line, and razor-sharp and evocative prose like Souvankham Thammavongsa’s How to Pronounce Knife. Submissions that keep me reading have: fully formed characters that I instantly connect with on a personal and emotional level, succinct and clear writing on the line-level, appropriate pacing, polished and a near-final quality (it’ll ideally have been through rounds of personal and peer revision), and a length of no more than 90,000 words.

Nonfiction Open

While I represent select non-fiction projects, I’d love to see narrative non-fiction submissions from field experts, emerging writers, and deep thinkers alike in the areas of pop culture, psychology, social science, and history. Some recent favourite reads are Katherine May’s Wintering, Andy Crouch’s The Life We’re Looking For: Reclaiming Relationship in a Technological World, Rosemary Sullivan’s The Betrayal of Anne Frank, John Green’s The Anthropocene Reviewed, and Makoto Fujimura’s work. As a hobby musician, I enjoy podcasts about music and cultural analysis like New York Times’ Popcast and The Ringer’s Every Single Album, and welcome submissions that provide a unique look into the history/landscape of music and its icons.
