Hi,

LEJ enlists discourse as a category of change aimed toward social and personal catharsis. LEJ means to support the edges of culture’s voices by providing a platform of shared experience amidst those located beyond the pale.

While mapping the potential for balance through a studied tolerance for thoughtful extremes, Limit Experience Media supports LEJ in aligning informed perspectives with an inclusive ethos. Our diversity of publication modalities provides accessibility as (essential) fodder for the creative engagement of constantly changing viewpoints.Appreciating the developmental nature of intellectual and creative discovery, LEJ provides a portal for emerging and established voices.

Welcome to Our Movement!

Lej Call For Submissions - Ongoing Fee: usd $11.11

Open

The term limit-experience originated in mid-20th century French philosophical realms but its application is timeless and universal. A limit-experience sets up change with the goal of transformation of some sort or other depending on the practitioner's concerns. Limit Experience Journal publishes well thought out text, audio, and visuals that encompasses this premise.

However you creatively interpret your own perspective of a limit-experience we are curious about how you'll communicate it in your piece(s)! Feel free to submit two entries per submission fee.

We look forward to reviewing your work.

Sacral & Sacred

Temp Closed

“So I say, if you are burning, burn. If you can stand it, the shame will burn away and leave you shining, radiant, and righteously shameless”
- Elizabeth Cunningham

To stand up to cultural normatives as if they do not rule your behavior is to be free and untethered from a basic libidinal constraint that is sexual taboo.

We want to review work that either agrees or disagrees with this statement with a well thought out perspective.

Basically, your work’s length and breadth will depend on the individual creative and intellectual parameters that you find useful. Strong, well-crafted fiction and nonfiction essays, short films, poetry, photography, and investigative journalism will be considered for publication.*

Read LEJ’s mission and guidelines for more context. Also, read The Sacral and The Sacred, the Winter 2021 issue, to get an overview of LEJ's general tone. We look forward to reviewing your submissions!

The Libidinal Landscape

Temp Closed

Hello,

In order to construct an erotic response to life, humans enact a complicated list of subconscious learned and inherited attitudes and behaviors.

We publish well thought out, critically articulated submissions that go beyond the pale. Various explorations of sexuality and the unmentionable, the transgressive, and the uncanny aspects of marginalized libidinal narratives are the basis for this project. We consider fiction and nonfiction as apt ways to address a broad landscape of critical libidinal issues. Academically bent work is fine as long as it acclimates a literary tone to tendencies of the phenomenological and not only the intellect. In other words, The Libidinal Landscape is meant here to be a reference to the body of the mind as well as the corporeal accessible through kinesthetic interpretations of human sexual journeys.

Take a look at our mission if you'd like to get a clearer idea about why LEJ exist. The journal has an interesting founding story, too. The idea emerged in a Los Angeles, CA philosophy class and then because it was relentless, was hatched as a publication several years later in Sao Paolo, Brazil.

We look forward to reviewing your work!

Travel & Sexuality

Temp Closed

"It is only in adventure that some people succeed in knowing themselves - in finding themselves." - Andre Gide

The "travel cure" includes various configurations of focus sometimes we travel to escape ourselves sometimes we travel to get lost in ourselves and sometimes we travel in search of external paradigms of meaning. Regardless of the impetus every time we take on an adventure it has an external and an internal component.

"There is a kind of magicness about going far away and then coming back all changed." - Kate Douglas Wiggin

The result of movement of any kind, existential or actual, creates change. The more radical and experimental travels can lead to limit-experiences. Change in the self is the result. If a libidinal lens is used intentionally as we move into the found world or in retrospect we come upon pockets of sexual realization. Brought on by seeing a place in our re-membering, we alter the position we hold in the personal as evidenced by the evolving silhouette on the page.

"A good traveler has no fixed plans and is not intent on arriving." - Lao Tzu

Send in your well thought out narratives, tales, stories, poetry, short films and art that intend to impose travel and sexuality on the subconsciousness of the viewer.

We look forward to reviewing your work.
