We're seeking visionary short stories for this anthology, showcasing hopeful visions of our future, with a focus on environmental themes and sustainable living, with or without magical elements. We invite you to imagine realms crafted by the dreams of environmentalists, social justice advocates, engineers, traditional wisdoms, innovators...or witches!


What We're Looking For:

• Original short stories set in a greener, more sustainable future

• Word count: 2,500-8,000 words

• Genres: Urban fantasy, Magical realism, Solarpunk, Eco-fiction, Near-future science fiction (Narrative poetry will be considered)


Desired Elements:

• Creative solutions to climate, justice, and ecological challenges

• Characters of all genders, ages, races, and abilities achieving their aspirations

• Themes of hope, resilience, community, and harmony with nature

• Imaginative worldbuilding that envisions a greener future

• Optional: Magical or fantastical elements that enhance the story's themes

While we welcome a range of perspectives, we encourage stories that leave readers feeling inspired and empowered to envision - and create - a better future.


Not Looking For:

• Dystopian or overly dark narrative

• Stories without clear themes of hope or positive action

We will be releasing the anthology on Amazon in all locations, as an ebook and paperback, wtih a projected launch in December 2024.

Gilbert and Hall Press is seeking worldwide First Publication Rights to previously unpublished stories. Copyright remains with all authors.

As a small press, we cannot yet offer monetary payment, However, all accepted authors will receive one paperback copy of the book sent to your address by the publisher.
