Q: What sets your publication apart from others that publish similar material?
A: We are a non-competitive platform & publication. We are an author hub. The work we publish is written by many bestselling authors . We try to publish every genre and aim to focus on social issues that are vital to encouraging activism .
Q: What is the best advice you can give people who are considering submitting work to your publication?
A: Never give up. Keep Writing. Keep Submitting.
Q: Describe the ideal submission.
A: What is published has to connect or be tethered to emotion. Readers must feel compelled to read. What we publish is intended to touch people in some way.
Q: What do submitters most often get wrong about your submissions process?
A: Many forget to write their bio in third person and forget to include links back to their other work or other projects. We also need social media profiles in order to promote them properly.
Q: How much do you want to know about the person submitting to you?
A: We try to get & research the Authors we publish. We are an Author hub which allows us to really establish a rapport with those we publish !
Q: If you publish writing, how much of a piece do you read before making the decision to reject it?
A: The entire submission. We go over the pieces and often work with the authors . We don’t believe in rejecting pieces. We try to always give feedback along with encouragement to all authors .
Q: What is a day in the life of an editor like for you?
A: Reading is such an intimate thing. Time has to be set aside in order for us to select the best pieces . Emotions can run high while reading and I often need to ground myself in order to read pieces that can be moving or difficult . Self-Care is vital .
Q: How important do you feel it is for publishers to embrace modern technologies?
A: Very important. I’ve seen many authors refuse to learn to promote themselves . Some hate social media . Most people don’t understand the basics of social media platforms. Some don’t understand the etiquette . Branding is also important.
Q: How much do you edit an accepted piece prior to publication?
A: It varies. We expect submissions to be excellent. However, we do enjoy finding those diamonds in the rough.
Q: Do you nominate work you've published for any national or international awards?
A: We do. In some cases we will contact other publishers and editors to let them know we have a piece we could not publish due to our schedule and help the author get published elsewhere.
