Q: Describe what you publish in 25 characters or less.

A: Feminist Anthems

Q: What other current publications (or publishers) do you admire most?

A: Man Repeller, Who What Wear, & Everyday Feminism

Q: If you publish writing, who are your favorite writers? If you publish art, who are your favorite artists?

A: Jhumpa Lahiri, Amy Tan, and Mia Alvar

Q: What sets your publication apart from others that publish similar material?

A: We publish experienced and novice writers with a focus on intersectional feminism.

Q: What is the best advice you can give people who are considering submitting work to your publication?

A: Be open, honest, and authentic about your piece. Write whatever comes to your mind.

Q: Describe the ideal submission.

A: Written for women by women about your daily thoughts, life, and ups-and-downs. We want to hear it all. Be unapologetically you.

Q: What do submitters most often get wrong about your submissions process?

A: We're not an "anti-men" blog.

Q: How much do you want to know about the person submitting to you?

A: Cover letters are not required or expected. Previous publications or previous work don't matter as much as the piece itself.

Q: If you publish writing, how much of a piece do you read before making the decision to reject it?

A: We read every piece to the end--there may be a surprise!

Q: What additional evaluations, if any, does a piece go through before it is accepted?

A: - Is it honest?
- Is it real?

Q: What is a day in the life of an editor like for you?

A: I write and read as well in stolen moments for a deep dive into what matters most.

Q: How important do you feel it is for publishers to embrace modern technologies?

A: Embrace modern technologies to reach a wider audience. Embrace traditional methods for what has worked time after time.

Q: How much do you edit an accepted piece prior to publication?

A: Minimal edits with basic proofreading. The work should remain in the author's original voice and intent.

Q: Do you nominate work you've published for any national or international awards?

A: We'd love to if both we and the author feel strongly enough to do so! Most importantly, we hope it can inspire and be relatable to our readers.
