About

Founded in 1988 by its editor-in-chief and publisher Timothy Monaghan, The Ledge Poetry & Fiction Magazine is published annually and features new and exciting work by both established and emerging poets and writers. The Ledge is open to all styles and schools of writing. We seek compelling stories that employ innovative language and complex characterization. We especially enjoy poignant stories with a sense of purpose and dislike careless or contrived writing. We also seek passionate poems that utilize language and imagery in a fresh, original fashion. We favor poems that speak to the human experience. We want inspired, imaginative, well-crafted verse, and we're open to all styles and schools of writing. Each issue of The Ledge features a wide and eclectic range of work by poets and writers of all backgrounds and persuasions. We firmly believe that superior writing appeals to a wider audience than most literary journals endeavor to reach, and consider The Ledge Poetry & Fiction Magazine a truly democratic publication in that regard.
