About

Our mission is to feature and promote the poetry of our frequent contributors and guest contest judges and to attract, publish, and promote the good poetry of other good poets. Frequent Contributor Status is bestowed upon a select few up-and-coming poets hand picked by the Editor. Membership in this exclusive group is by invitation only. All poems published in the Review are automatically eligible for the Songs of Eretz Editor's Choice Award--there is no entry fee. The Editor chooses the poem published in the Review the previous year that "moved him the most." The award includes a certificate, bragging rights, and occasionally a modest honorarium. What makes Songs of Eretz unique is that we feature the poet as much as the poetry. Each poem is thoughtfully paired with a graphic and accompanied by the poet's bio, the poet's notes, and sometimes an editor's note. In Songs of Eretz, every poet is a "featured" poet. In addition, submissions, whether accepted or rejected, receive personal responses from the editor--a courtesy that is almost unheard of these days.

Before Submitting

We cannot guarantee that the information on this page is correct. It is not unusual for publications to evolve or close without notice. We do our best to keep up, but it isn't always possible. Just remember…

  • Always read the full guidelines provided by the publisher.
  • Try to read at least one previous publication to get a better idea of what the editor would like to see.
  • Unless the publisher's guidelines state otherwise, always use industry standard manuscript formatting.
  • For novel/collection publishers, it is standard to submit a cover letter, synopsis, and sample instead of the full manuscript. Do this unless otherwise instructed.
  • Include a SASE with all mailed submissions, queries, and requests for guidelines, unless the editor replies via or email or guidelines state otherwise.
  • Be professional, patient and persistent.
