The Shine Journal: The Light Left Behind 28

About

Welcome to this place created for the expression of loss. My hope is that it be a place of healing for the readers and the contributors alike. Going through the loss of my mother last year and of my sister-in-love this year, I am learning about the wounds of loss. For a while I was paralyzed with it and this journal almost faded away. My goal now is to continue to revive TSJ even as I revive myself. This road is long yet it is a contradiction in that while I don't travel alone - I am alone as I travel.. We are unified by birth and death - truths from which we can't escape. Share your experiences of loss whether it is a loss of a person, favorite space, keys, book, memories. Someone else may benefit from your words. Writing them may be cathartic for you.

Before Submitting

We cannot guarantee that the information on this page is correct. It is not unusual for publications to evolve or close without notice. We do our best to keep up, but it isn't always possible. Just remember…

  • Always read the full guidelines provided by the publisher.
  • Try to read at least one previous publication to get a better idea of what the editor would like to see.
  • Unless the publisher's guidelines state otherwise, always use industry standard manuscript formatting.
  • For novel/collection publishers, it is standard to submit a cover letter, synopsis, and sample instead of the full manuscript. Do this unless otherwise instructed.
  • Include a SASE with all mailed submissions, queries, and requests for guidelines, unless the editor replies via or email or guidelines state otherwise.
  • Be professional, patient and persistent.
