About

Canthius is a Canadian literary magazine publishing poetry and prose by women and genderqueer writers, including transgender men, nonbinary and Two-Spirit writers. Published out of Ottawa and Toronto, Canthius has featured new writing from Hoa Nguyen, Doyali Islam, Jen Currin, Whitney French and artwork from Caroline Monnet, Winnie Truong, and Alisha Davidson. Every issue of Canthius is a unique art object printed by Toronto's Vide Press on a risograph printer with soy ink. We believe that we empower others and ourselves when we encourage cis and trans women to engage in public literary space through publication. Recognizing the historical underrepresentation of certain groups in the Canadian literary arts, we are committed to publishing diverse perspectives and experiences and strongly encourage women of colour, including Indigenous and Black women, to submit here.

Voluntary Fees: This project accepts voluntary fees for "tip jar" submissions.
Limited Demographic: Submissions are restricted to "writers of marginalized gender identities, including trans, Two Spirit, non-binary, agender, cis women, genderqueer, GNC, and intersex writers."
Submission Caps: They may close to submissions early if they reach their quota. Check before submitting.
