About

In 2017, rather than teaching a course about what it would be like to work for a literary magazine, Dr. LoVerde-Dropp developed a course for Kennesaw State University’s MAPW program that produced a literary magazine. The first two issues of The Crambo were the result of this course and the hard work of Dr. Loverde-Dropp and her students. The Headlight Review was born out of a rebranding initiative as the magazine structure shifted to enable a greater collaboration between faculty, students, and community. As we make this transition, we seek stories with characters that become flesh and blood—poems that light up the senses. New voices and established ones are welcomed. We are committed to giving each work a fair look and nominating selected contributors for PushCart Prizes each year. Here at The Headlight Review, we believe that well crafted narratives and poetry have the ability to affect real and lasting change in the reader—and thereby the world. We hope you will browse the site and find a story or poem, maybe two or three, that give you that experience.

Before Submitting

We cannot guarantee that the information on this page is correct. It is not unusual for publications to evolve or close without notice. We do our best to keep up, but it isn't always possible. Duotrope listings do not imply endorsement or recommendation of the project being listed. Before submitting, you should use your own judgment to determine whether the project meets your standards.

  • Always read the full guidelines provided by the publisher.
  • Try to read at least one previous publication to get a better idea of what the editor would like to see.
  • Unless the publisher's guidelines state otherwise, always use industry standard manuscript formatting.
  • Be professional, patient, and persistent.
