About

The Poetry Box SELECT imprint is a Traditional Publishing opportunity for well-established poets (those who have been published widely in curated literary journals and anthologies). The Poetry Box will choose 2-3 full-length poetry manuscripts each summer and offer those poets a traditional, royalty-earning publishing contract to have their book designed and published the following year. Poets who have been published under The Poetry Box Select imprint, established in 2018, include: Cynthia Gallaher, Karla Linn Merrifield, Carolyn Martin, Christopher Luna, Kristin Berger, Joan Colby, Dianalee Velie, Rebecca Smolen, Laura LeHew, Jeanne Julian, Michael Waterson, Ahrend Torrey, Sherry Rind, and Michael Estabrook.

Fees Notice: This project charges fees (or requires purchases) for all submissions.
Limited Demographic: Submissions are restricted to US residents who have been widely published.

Poetry Temp Closed

We enjoy poems of all styles: formal, free-verse, metered, non-rhyming, experimental, nostalgic, political, erotic, abstract, lyrical, etc. We don’t censor or shy away from ‘tough topics’, however we do draw the line at poetry that discriminates against our fellow humans. Please keep in mind that the poetry manuscript should have some unifying theme or topic, and yet each poem should be strong enough to stand on its own merit.

Before Submitting

We cannot guarantee that the information on this page is correct. It is not unusual for publications to evolve or close without notice. We do our best to keep up, but it isn't always possible. Duotrope listings do not imply endorsement or recommendation of the project being listed. Before submitting, you should use your own judgment to determine whether the project meets your standards.

  • Always read the full guidelines provided by the publisher.
  • Try to read at least one previous publication to get a better idea of what the editor would like to see.
  • Unless the publisher's guidelines state otherwise, always use industry standard manuscript formatting.
  • For book publishers, it is standard to submit a cover letter, synopsis, and sample instead of the full manuscript. Do this unless otherwise instructed.
  • Be professional, patient, and persistent.
