Dado Derviskadic 6

An agent with Folio Literary Management (see other agents at this agency).

About

Dado Derviskadic began his career in publishing in 2009 in Beijing, China, acquiring English language non-fiction for the growing Chinese market. During that time, he worked with every major American and British agency and publisher to acquire more than 100 titles per year for China CITIC Press, Asia’s largest publisher of non-fiction in translation. Working primarily in business, biography, history and current affairs, Dado acquired major works by Walter Isaacson (Steve Jobs), George W. Bush (Decision Points), Henry Kissinger (On China), and many more. Having trained at the New York Times in both New York and Beijing, and being fluent in Chinese, Japanese and Serbian, Dado loves working with writers across genres who have a deep and singular insight into their chosen world, who help a reader make sense of her own world in turn.

Fiction Open

In fiction, my tastes lean towards to the gritty, introspective and serious. Plot is less important than mood and thought, and I’d rather be taken on an intellectual roller coaster than to a heart-warming, neatly-wrapped ending.

Nonfiction Open

I am interested primarily in: cultural history and biography (journalists or historians bringing us an irreplaceable, in-depth view of a fascinating figure, time or place, especially in the worlds of art, film and food); memoir (especially, but not exclusively, of the globe-trotting sort, personal stories that help explain the world around the author); pop science and motivational self-help (especially if it has to do with memory, finding and sculpting your best self, food, health/nutrition, or language); pop culture (especially where it intersects with “nerd cultures” of all kinds); and cookbooks (from healthy food hacks to gloriously illustrated haute cuisine and anything in between).
