Vox Viola 7

About

Vox Viola was created to empower and inspire women through the written word and visual arts. Named after Viola from Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, who presented herself as a man so others would take her seriously, Vox Viola is an intersectional feminist literary magazine that seeks to amplify the voices of all women regardless of race, age, ability, sexuality, or any other identifier. Furthermore, it provides the opportunity to explore how identity plays a role in how individuals interact with and are perceived by the world. Women have too often been silenced throughout history. Here is a platform for those stories to be heard— the insightful, the extraordinary, the frustrating, the devastating, the quirky. We aim to encourage women to speak out about their experiences and to display the wide array of perspectives within the female community through poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, and visual arts. Vox Viola is meant to be a supportive, empowering, and honest space. We hope that this speaking out and taking in of women’s thoughts, experiences, and beliefs will lead to better understanding and stronger connections.
