The Workshop

Do not submit here! This project is believed to be defunct. (October 2022)
We list other projects with similar titles. Please ensure you report any submissions under the correct listing.

The MFA Years will soon be relaunched as The Workshop. While we will still share important resources including admissions notifications and lists of creative writing programs that are partially or fully funded, we also hope to include more comprehensive resources: lists of post-MFA fellowships and funding opportunities, lists of MFAs that have taken writers without the bachelor's degree, lists of conferences with financial aid, an advice column for those at the very beginnings of a writing career, etc. We offer these resources for free in perpetuity, and we promise to never use any kind of paywall. We're also launching columns with news and Op-Eds related to creative writing as a discipline, personal essays about writers' career journeys, craft essays, and instructions that move beginning writers beyond or around the MFA.

Voluntary Fees: This project accepts voluntary fees for "tip jar" submissions.

Before Submitting

We cannot guarantee that the information on this page is correct. It is not unusual for publications to evolve or close without notice. We do our best to keep up, but it isn't always possible. Duotrope listings do not imply endorsement or recommendation of the project being listed. Before submitting, you should use your own judgment to determine whether the project meets your standards.

  • Always read the full guidelines provided by the publisher.
  • Try to read at least one previous publication to get a better idea of what the editor would like to see.
  • Unless the publisher's guidelines state otherwise, always use industry standard manuscript formatting.
  • Be professional, patient, and persistent.
