About

FlowerSong Press invites submissions for a full-color anthology of visual poetry from BIPOC writers. Visual poetry—poetry that is primarily expressed through line, shape, and color, and sometimes represented by poetry comics and erasures—has seen a recent surge in popularity driven by the need to escape the traditional constraints of line-based text, reflecting a willingness to explore new modes of poetic expression, and continuing a tradition of protest through image. However, the medium is not often representative of the concerns, needs, and foci of BIPOC writers. This anthology will focus attention on the work of BIPOC writers and allow space for their own voices.
