About

Petrichor Machine is a literary journal, and we are looking for fantasies. We’re in love with the power that words inherently hold in their inky black letter-forms: a few strokes of a pen, the tap of a key, or even the pulse of air when expelled through lips with a curl of the tongue just so. Such simple mechanical application contains immense power. The power to emote, to move, to communicate in a world in which communication grows increasingly banal. We live out our days inundated with words, and yet stories and poems and art, in all their manifestations, challenge that banality by making us feel more deeply than we thought ourselves capable. So grab hold of that tentacle, rouse the pulses of air within you, and bring us into your word-worlds. Raise the battle cry against that which makes us disinterested or uninspired, or worst of all: indifferent.

Before Submitting

We cannot guarantee that the information on this page is correct. It is not unusual for publications to evolve or close without notice. We do our best to keep up, but it isn't always possible. Just remember…

  • Always read the full guidelines provided by the publisher.
  • Try to read at least one previous publication to get a better idea of what the editor would like to see.
  • Unless the publisher's guidelines state otherwise, always use industry standard manuscript formatting.
  • For novel/collection publishers, it is standard to submit a cover letter, synopsis, and sample instead of the full manuscript. Do this unless otherwise instructed.
  • Include a SASE with all mailed submissions, queries, and requests for guidelines, unless the editor replies via or email or guidelines state otherwise.
  • Be professional, patient and persistent.
