About

Alter Press is looking for novels that fall under the Horror / Apocalyptic / Dark Fantasy genres or any derivative thereof. We are not looking for Romance novels, Westerns, Noir, Mystery etc. unless they contain elements of Horror / Apocalypse / Dark Fantasy. The tone of the novel, however, is up in the air. Do you have a 3-Stooges-esque Vampire tale? Or maybe a dark, gory werewolf novel? Any tone is welcome, again, as long as it falls under the above mentioned genres. Surprise us, show us something new. Zombies have been done to death and vampire books lack a pulse (puns intended) but if you have a new spin on the theme or think yours is something new and exciting, we would love to give it a look.

Before Submitting

We cannot guarantee that the information on this page is correct. It is not unusual for publications to evolve or close without notice. We do our best to keep up, but it isn't always possible. Duotrope listings do not imply endorsement or recommendation of the project being listed. Before submitting, you should use your own judgment to determine whether the project meets your standards.

  • Always read the full guidelines provided by the publisher.
  • Try to read at least one previous publication to get a better idea of what the editor would like to see.
  • Unless the publisher's guidelines state otherwise, always use industry standard manuscript formatting.
  • For book publishers, it is standard to submit a cover letter, synopsis, and sample instead of the full manuscript. Do this unless otherwise instructed.
  • Be professional, patient, and persistent.
