About

We (the editors) are looking for prose and verse that doesn’t hesitate to break traditional boundaries. Please do not cautiously plod along with the current trends of literary fiction…which, to our dismay, has become rife with pseudo-intellectual “irony” that is neither intellectual or ironic (or worth the webspace or paper it tarnishes). That being said, we also want to discourage the use of so-called “innovative” forms of structure, verse, plot, etc. that are unique only for the purpose of standing out or highlighting a gimmick. Gimmicks are cheap (and not at all unique!). Also: In addition to publishing some issues in print, we will now be publishing each issue in NOOK e-book form, through Barnes and Noble's NOOK program.

Before Submitting

We cannot guarantee that the information on this page is correct. It is not unusual for publications to evolve or close without notice. We do our best to keep up, but it isn't always possible. Just remember…

  • Always read the full guidelines provided by the publisher.
  • Try to read at least one previous publication to get a better idea of what the editor would like to see.
  • Unless the publisher's guidelines state otherwise, always use industry standard manuscript formatting.
  • Be professional, patient, and persistent.
