Bitingduck Press 1

About

We are an indie press established in 2012 with the goal of providing high-quality, low-cost, highly accessible electronic and print books for anyone interested in science, mathematics, and the lives of scientists. We are currently focusing on science fiction and "science in fiction," but will eventually bring you a wide range of quality non-fiction and textbooks. Whatever your format, Bitingduck is here to make your technical content friendly and useful, expanding the concept of “book” for the twenty-first century.
FICTION: Science fiction; genre fiction about science or scientists; medical thrillers; fantasy/supernatural with a nerd element (you know who you are); cyberpunk; young adult.
NONFICTION: Popular science; laboratory guides and manuals; health and beauty; fitness; travel with a science theme; programming guides; anything else you think may interest us.

Before Submitting

We cannot guarantee that the information on this page is correct. It is not unusual for publications to evolve or close without notice. We do our best to keep up, but it isn't always possible. Just remember…

  • Always read the full guidelines provided by the publisher.
  • Try to read at least one previous publication to get a better idea of what the editor would like to see.
  • Unless the publisher's guidelines state otherwise, always use industry standard manuscript formatting.
  • For novel/collection publishers, it is standard to submit a cover letter, synopsis, and sample instead of the full manuscript. Do this unless otherwise instructed.
  • Include a SASE with all mailed submissions, queries, and requests for guidelines, unless the editor replies via or email or guidelines state otherwise.
  • Be professional, patient and persistent.
