About

Fiction and non-fiction chapbooks made in a Wisconsin basement. Types of Books I'm Always Looking For: Story cycles. (Or, a novella in stories, if you want to call it that.) Short fiction that is precise, clever, realistically absurd, and a dark sort of funny. Think Amy Hempel, Gary Lutz, Barry Hannah, and Rick Bass. I'm open to any well-written short fiction, but anything that reminds me of the aforementioned writers gets in closer to my heart. Rock & roll memoirs based around touring and/or being in a band. For that matter, a personal documentation of an unheralded, unknown music scene is of interest as well. (I'm looking at you, Dubuque, Iowa.) Personal essays about life-altering albums and musicians. This must move beyond enjoyment and into obsession. Black & white graphic novels. Due to the short nature of chapbooks, I'm willing to serialize a longer work, if necessary. Anything having to do with professional wrestling. Seriously.

Before Submitting

We cannot guarantee that the information on this page is correct. It is not unusual for publications to evolve or close without notice. We do our best to keep up, but it isn't always possible. Just remember…

  • Always read the full guidelines provided by the publisher.
  • Try to read at least one previous publication to get a better idea of what the editor would like to see.
  • Unless the publisher's guidelines state otherwise, always use industry standard manuscript formatting.
  • For book publishers, it is standard to submit a cover letter, synopsis, and sample instead of the full manuscript. Do this unless otherwise instructed.
  • Be professional, patient, and persistent.
