About

Jelly Bucket is published by the Bluegrass Writers Studio at Eastern Kentucky University. Founded in 2009, Jelly Bucket features established and new writers. We accept works of fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, and 10-minute plays from anywhere in the world. At least one eight-page color insert in each issue is dedicated to visual art that incorporates text and/or features an aspect of the book arts. Jelly Bucket is committed to publishing writers from, and writing about, marginalized and under-represented communities. Each year, Jelly Bucket will make a specific call for work and showcase it alongside our regular, high-quality, general submissions. The special section will comprise roughly 50% of the issue and will be guest-edited by an established writer who is connected in some way to the community being featured.

Fees Notice: This project charges fees (or requires purchases) for all submissions, and does not offer monetary payment for accepted submissions.

Before Submitting

We cannot guarantee that the information on this page is correct. It is not unusual for publications to evolve or close without notice. We do our best to keep up, but it isn't always possible. Duotrope listings do not imply endorsement or recommendation of the project being listed. Before submitting, you should use your own judgment to determine whether the project meets your standards.

  • Always read the full guidelines provided by the publisher.
  • Try to read at least one previous publication to get a better idea of what the editor would like to see.
  • Unless the publisher's guidelines state otherwise, always use industry standard manuscript formatting.
  • Be professional, patient, and persistent.
