Instant Noodles Devil's Party Press

One of the limitations of producing a physical book is that at some point, you gotta cap it. We’ve done a few larger collections (HALLOWEEN PARTY 2019 and WHAT SORT OF FUCKERY IS THIS? being the obvious examples), but in general our collections gravitate toward 200 pages. This means that a fair number of authors are excluded, and this is true of any publisher producing physical titles.

To help provide our over-40 authors with more resources, we’ll be rolling out our online anthology, INSTANT NOODLES, this spring. More details will be forthcoming, but in short, the magazine will feature short stories, poetry, and memoir. We will promote the authors published in INSTANT NOODLES to the same extent we promote all of our contributing authors which, if you’ve worked with us before, you know is a lot. There is no submission fee for authors, and no cost for readers. All content will be publicly available within the INSTANT NOODLES section of the DPP site.

Check out the INSTANT NOODLES webpage for more details and stay tuned. We promise a tasty collection of works you’re guaranteed to enjoy.

VOL 1, ISSUE 3 (HOT BUTTERED HOLIDAYS) Free

Open

Closes on Thursday, September 30, 2021 11:59 PM UTC (in 2 days)

ISSUE 3 (HOT BUTTERED HOLIDAYS): Submissions are open July 1- September 30, 2021. Publication date is December 1, 2021:

THINK mid-century modern, cocktails, things better-left-unsaid that are said anyway, NYE disasters and the like.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
During open submission periods (noted below), authors are encouraged to submit one work (fiction or nonfiction) of up to 1,000 words. Poets may submit up to 3 poems (up to a combined total of 1,000 words).

There is no submission fee.

Submission of work to INSTANT NOODLES is not a guarantee of publication. By submitting a work to Devil’s Party Press, LLC (DPP) for consideration in INSTANT NOODLES, the author agrees to allow DPP the right to reproduce the work online within the INSTANT NOODLES section of the DPP website and to promote the author and his or her work on social media and through other means. If an author’s work is selected for publication, the author will be asked to supply a brief bio (approximately 150-200 words) for publication in the Authors section of the IN issue. DPP will perform minimal edits for spelling and punctuation if warranted. The author retains all rights to his or her work. The author’s work will appear online in INSTANT NOODLES for a period of two years, after which the author may request to have the work removed from the website. DPP may, at its discretion, remove the work at any time.

Submissions must adhere to the following guidelines: Authors must be 40 years of age or older by the scheduled publication date. All work must be original and must belong to the author. Works that have been previously published will not be considered. Stories must be complete and self-contained (i.e., do not submit chapters of a larger work). NOTE: Accepted works will be published as submitted without editing; as such, in addition to the originality of the work itself, we are looking for manuscripts that are clean and press ready. Be sure to review your grammar, spelling, tenses, proper punctuation, and other general rules of the written word before hitting “Send.” Work should be submitted through Duotrope as a Microsoft Word or PAGES file, 12-point New Times Roman, double-spaced (single-spaced is acceptable for poetry submissions). FOR ART submit files that are JPEG or PNG, between 500 and 1500 pixels wide, 72 DPI. Up to three pieces of art per/submission. Please do not submit more than two manuscripts per submission period. Include full name, address, mobile, and email in the page header or on page 1 of the file. DPP will notify authors approximately 1 month prior to the scheduled publication date as to whether their submission will be published.

ISSUE 1 (Very Veggie!) of Instant Noodles Seeking Submissions

Temp Closed

To help provide our over-40 authors with more resources, we're rolling out our online anthology, INSTANT NOODLES, this spring.

The digital magazine will feature short stories, poetry, and memoir.

ALL work must be owned and created by the person submitting, and all work must be original and previously unpublished. Simultaneous submissions okay, as long as you pull your submission if it gets picked up somewhere else. We will promote the authors published in INSTANT NOODLES to the same extent we promote all of our contributing authors which, if you’ve worked with us before, you know is a lot.

There is no submission fee for authors, and no cost for readers.

All content will be publicly available within the INSTANT NOODLES section of the DPP site, and will be featured there for one calendar year in the minimum.

All chosen participants will have the opportunity to be featured on our website as authors, in addition to being featured in the magazine.

We do not have a topic for the inaugural issue but we do not want anything that glorifies violence, racism, etc. We are all liberal like that, you know people. So be cool with those different from you. We publish a horror anthology every other year, so we're not opposed to a scary story, just opposed to violence for violence-sake.

We've been known to accept stories from authors who were not entirely fluent in English, and from authors around the globe too. We are curious curious people, and diversity-friendly

We will not edit any work chosen beyond typos, so check it and check it again.

Creators retain all rights beyond the permission for your work to live, in perpetuity, in the magazine.

No fees to you, and no fees to read the publication.

We hope a publication here can add to your street cred, and help you get more notice as an author.

We do choose some authors every year to nominate for awards. In the case of some awards, like the National Federation of Press Women, a publication here can be used by you to apply for an award there. Publication is good for your career.

We ask that authors chosen for publication brag about their submission on their social media pages to help spread the word, and help draw attention to the world of 40+ authors. Together we thrive.

Thank you for considering Instant Noodles as a home for your work.
