Afterbodies

Founded in 2026 by poet Talan Tee, Afterbodies is a 501(c)(3) literary nonprofit that believes in resurfacing the unseen. The roots of our philosophy trace back to the ocean’s wake—honoring ancestral crossings made with no promise of a shore, the borders we survive, and the vast, intersecting currents of our many homelands. Afterbodies thus publishes the poetry and prose of young writers, in response to the growing numbers of youth today who are made to feel marginalized or closeted. Send us the buoyant, the quirky, and the messy.

We pay a flat honorarium of $20 per accepted contributor. Please submit up to 10 pages of written work per reading period. We will endeavor to get back to you within three to four weeks. We kindly ask that you submit only once per reading cycle, and refrain from submitting AI-assisted work or work which conveys a harmful message. Simultaneous submissions are allowed. You must be 13 or older to submit.
