Furrow

Winner of the AWP National Program Directors’ Prize, Furrow is an annual literary journal that showcases outstanding writing and art from undergraduates across the U.S.

Our team of undergraduate editors at UW-Milwaukee publishes a beautiful, full-color print issue each spring, and we feature new work throughout the year on our website, uwm.edu/furrow.

We accept unpublished short fiction, nonfiction, poetry, art, and comics from undergraduates at any U.S. college or university, and we do not charge submission fees. Our reading period is December 1 to February 20. To be eligible for publication in our 2024 issue, you need to have been enrolled as an undergraduate at any U.S. college or university in the 2023-24 academic year. (Students who graduate in December are still eligible for publication in spring 2024.)

We allow simultaneous submissions, but please withdraw your submission if it gets accepted for publication at a different journal before we respond to your work. We usually send out acceptance and rejection notifications in April.
