Good Printed Things

Since 2018, Good Printed Things has published work focused on connection: with ourselves, others, and the world around us. Specializing in short print runs and small projects (including zines, chapbooks and other non-traditional formats), we proudly work with both emergent and established writers and artists to seek out, explore, and celebrate the good.

2027 / 2028 Catalog Fee: usd $10.00 Open

Good Printed Things reads submissions on a rolling basis. Outside of specific anthology calls for submissions, there are no deadlines and you can submit work anytime.

Our press specializes in the publication of design-forward projects (including zines, chapbooks and other non-traditional formats) that focus primarily on food, poetry, and nature, with a secondary focus on regional and South Carolina topics. We are not the right home for memoirs or long-form fiction projects.

Submission Guidelines

  • We are currently taking submissions for 2027/2028 projects
  • Please submit only original writing that has not previously been published elsewhere
  • PDFs are preferred

To submit poetry for consideration, please send no fewer than 5 poems. For other projects, a sample chapter or section plus an overview or outline should be enough to give us a taste of the project and its scope.

While every submission is read, we can only respond personally if we're hoping to move forward with a project. If it has been three months and you haven't heard from us, it's safe to assume it wasn't the right fit for our catalog at this time.

A couple notes:

  1. We're a small team publishing just 4-6 projects a year, so we have to be highly selective. If your work isn't chosen, it's often because it falls outside our focus areas or our production schedule is full. This is not a reflection of quality.
  2. We publish human-created work only. We don't accept content generated by AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, etc.).
  3. With such a focused catalog, it's possible we're already working on a similar project. That's just the nature of a small, specialized press, not a reflection on your work or ours.
