OVER/EXPOSED Lit

Submissions for OVER/EXPOSED Lit, an experimental online literary journal run by current and former students at the MFA program out of UVic. For all submissions, remember to specify if you are a graduate student.

Individual genre guidelines are below:

FICTION, CREATIVE NONFICTION and REVIEWS:

Traditional prose2500 words

Microprose3-4 pieces of no more than 2500 words total.

We accept short reviews of contemporary writing, films, games, and art with fresh angles. We accept both formal and experimental reviews. This could take the form of a photo essay, creative response, fanfiction, or a traditional journalistic review.

Reviews -- no more than 1500 words. Submit reviews to the creative nonfiction section.

POETRY:

We accept poems of all kinds with a special interest in hybrid forms.

No more than 3 poems per submission.

EXPERIMENTAL:

As an online magazine, we are uniquely suited to display work that pushes the boundaries of art and writing. We want to see interactive stories, visual poetry and essays, and anything else you want to find a home for with us.

Interactive stories – Playtime should be about 30 minutes or less per playthrough. Submit digital interactive stories as an HTML file, or contact us to inquire about alternate formats.

Hybrid pieces – follow the guidelines of the genre that you think your piece is most suited to.

VISUAL ART:

We accept any and all genres of visual art. You may submit up to three pieces in one submission, all in separate files, though please indicate to us whether they are standalone works or a collection. In your submission, please include a statement of meaning to accompany your work.

Please submit your work as either a .pdf, .jpeg, or .png. If these do not work for your submission, please contact us to arrange an alternate submission method.

We do not accept any work generated through AI
