Sentience is an online literary journal edited by a group of Antioch University Los Angeles students and alumni. Poets, novelists, essay writers, and artists, we are dedicated to supporting our peers as they tackle the beauty and chaos of the world we live in through the written word.

Sentience accepts:

Fiction and creative non-fiction submissions of up to 5000 words. Submit individual short stories and essays separately; flash fiction may be grouped into a single document, with a limit of three pieces per submission. We do not accept previously published work, translations, or novel/memoir excerpts which do not stand on their own.

Poetry – individual poems should be grouped into a single document, with a limit of five poems per submission. Prose poetry submissions are subject to the 5000 word limit above.

Art – including original photography and mixed-genre pieces, which resonates with the theme of the issue. Please limit to five pieces per submission.
