Tawahan Gold Star Program Gold Star The mission of Tawahan is to give up-and-coming, Arab voices a platform to share their thoughts and artistic achievements, whether in Arabic or in English. For Tawahan, Arts is not merely visual arts, poetry, or prose. We welcome experimentation, the novel, and the new. Philosophy refers more to the Arabic use of the term falsafeh than strict philosophy. Anything from philosophical writings, general musings about life, sociology, to politics is welcome. We aim to create an outlet for our thoughts as Arabs. We at Tawahan are committed to the exchange of ideas, anti-censorship, and especially work that is challenging, unusual, and experimental. Additionally, we only accept work from authors who identify as Arab or live in the Arab world (broadly defined). This does not mean that the work must be in any way related to being Arab, Arab identity, or anything of that sort, merely that this magazine is made by Arabs, for Arabs. Arts Temp ClosedWe’re always welcoming new pieces and contributions from writers and intellectuals who live in the Arab world or self-identify as Arabs! We accept work that broadly falls into the categories of Arts and Philosophy and have a strong preference for new and emerging Arab writers. Within Arts we accept creative writing in all its forms; fiction, nonfiction, verse, prose, and experimental writing.We accept written work that ranges from 300 to 5000 words. We may accept longer work, which we will split up. If you have multiple shorter submissions, please group them together into one document, up to five submissions. Essays should be catered to a general audience, as opposed to strictly academic. We accept written work that ranges from 300 to 5000 words. We may accept longer work, which we will split up. If you have multiple shorter submissions, please group them together into one document, up to five submissions. Please double space and use a size 12 font with serifs for English (such as Times New Roman).We will do our best to provide substantive feedback if your work is not right for our magazine. If you would prefer to remain anonymous, we publish under the house name Jamal al-Dunya.
