The Plentitudes, a quarterly literary journal, is home to captivating stories, essays, and poetry from diverse voices.

We believe in the power of narratives to touch the soul, shift the gaze, and offer new perspectives. Our aim is to amplify a diversity of voices and shine light on fresh narratives.

Upon publication, we award an honorarium of US$50 per published story, essay, poem or collection of poems.

Plentitudes - Call for Short Stories & Essays

The Plentitudes is a quarterly international literary journal showcasing captivating stories, essays, and poetry from diverse voices. We believe in the power of writing - in its plentitudes of forms - to touch the soul, shift the gaze, and offer new perspectives.

We will accept submissions of short stories and personal essays for our Winter 2022 issue from September 1 - November 30, 2021.

We are looking for pieces that are well-written, captivating, and from the heart. We especially love writing from new voices and fresh perspectives for the now. LGBTQ and BIPOC writers are particularly encouraged to submit.

Submission guidelines:

  • ON THE TOP OF THE FIRST PAGE, INDICATE EITHER "PERSONAL ESSAY" OR "SHORT STORY"
  • Personal Essays: 1,500 - 6,500 words.
  • Short Stories: 1,500 - 6,500 words.
  • Must be an original, unpublished work, written by the submitter.
  • Authors of works selected for publication will receive an honorarium of US$50 per piece.

  • No more than 10 pages and no more than 5 poems, in ONE document.
  • Submissions must be in English.
  • Must be an original, unpublished work, written by the submitter.
  • Authors of works selected for publication will receive an honorarium of US$50 per poem (or collection of poems).
