AC | DC: A Journal for the Bent Gold Star Program Gold Star

AC|DC is a one-man operation based in Brooklyn, NY. It aims to feature a diverse collection of queer voices - virgins, veterans, and everyone in between.

AC|DC currently publishes new short fiction, creative nonfiction, and poetry by LGBTQIA+ authors on (most) Tuesdays. Beginning Fall 2025, we will publish an annual print edition featuring select works from the website.

AC|DC is currently accepting submissions of Fiction, Creative Nonfiction, Poetry, and Art from LGBTQIA+ writers and artists

Take a look at what’s on the site to decide if your work might be a good fit. We have a preference for the dark and raw but are open to all.

Regular Submissions: We aim to respond within 30 days, but it can take as long as 60 days.

Tip Jar Submissions: For a tip of $5.00, you can skip the line and receive a response within 3 days. Please note in the cover letter section of your submission : "Tip Jar"

If you'd like to show your support with an amount less than $5.00, you won't skip the line, but you will earn a special place in AC|DC's heart.

Tips do not sway our decision.

Fiction and Creative Nonfiction:

-Submit one unpublished work of short fiction or creative nonfiction, up to 3,000(ish) words.
-Submit .doc or .docx files, double spaced, Times New Roman, name/contact information somewhere on the first page and last name/page number on following pages.

Poetry:

- Submit up to a total of five pages of unpublished poetry.

-Submit .doc or .docx files, spaced how you see fit, name/contact information somewhere on the first page and last name/page number on following pages.

Art:

-Submit up to 3 jpeg files of drawing, painting, photography, digital works, or mixed media.
