Crab Apple Literary is an independent online literary magazine born and raised in Montreal, Quebec. We aim to shed a light on the strange, deformed, and forgotten.

We strive to make space for the offbeat, the left field, the weird, and the wonderful. If someone’s taken a bite out of you and spit it out, this is the place for you and your writing.

This is a safe space for all so be loud, crass, sexually indecent, anything that makes you who you are (as long as you are not derogatory or abusive. No bigots, homophobes, transphobes, or racists allowed!).

We accept up to two (2) prose submissions, each up to 3000 words.

Please include all submissions in one doc./docx./PDF file.

All genres and subjects are welcome as long as the material is not sexist, racist, homophobic, transphobic or otherwise bigoted (free speech does not equal free hate).

We only accept previously unpublished work (that includes if the work has been published online anywhere like social media, blogs, etc.).

Simultaneous submissions are welcome! Just make sure to withdraw your piece if it was accepted elsewhere.

We accept up to ten (10) art pieces in any medium (photography, digital, paint, collage, mixed-media, etc.). We accept comics (no max. pages or panels, but keep in mind that shorter comics will be easier to place).

All subject matter is fair game as long as the material is not sexist, racist, homophobic, transphobic or otherwise bigoted (obviously).

We only accept previously unpublished work.

Simultaneous submissions are welcome! Just make sure to withdraw your piece if it was accepted elsewhere.

Please send us the highest quality images/files of your work as possible.

We currently publish our issue digitally on A4 size pages with 1 inch margins. Our font is 12 point Playfair Display (medium). If you have made specific formatting choices (line breaks, spacing, etc.), please make sure they come across how you envision them with these specifications.
