Submitting Artwork

Please list the names of your pieces and the media/techniques used. Include a brief message and an artist bio of max 100 words. Attach pdf, png, jpeg, or svg files only. Send 1–5 works of art based on the Cthulhu Mythos.

Simultaneous Submissions

We accept simultaneous submissions, but be courteous and inform us immediately if a piece gets accepted elsewhere.

Payment

We can’t pay contributors up front yet. However, contributors will receive yearly royalty payments for each copy sold. The anthology will be on Kickstarter to raise money for author payments, so the payments could increase to $5, $10, $25 or $50 depending on how the Kickstarter campaign goes.

We don’t charge submission fees.

Author Copies

We’ll send you a PDF of the anthology. If you want a print version, you’ll have to buy at your favorite online bookstore.

Publishing Rights

Island of Wak-Wak reserves the right of first publication for all works it publishes. You retain the copyright, but we suggest you wait a month out of curtesy before publishing it elsewhere.

Submission to Island of Wak-Wak and Eldritch Prayers constitutes acceptance of these terms.

Not Open

Island of Wak-Wak has a passion to promote genre poetry (a niche within a niche). Thus, we are always trying to find new ways to spread the gospel of speculative poets. Taking inspiration from Cosmic Horror Monthly, we are going to try using Kickstarter with stretch goals to increase the payment to the poets. The project will publish without or without Kickstarter funding, but then there will only be royalties paid to the contributors. The campaign will have four stretch-goal tiers: $100, $200, $500, & $1000 for contributor payments of $5, $10, $25, and $50 respectively (e.g., if the campaign raises $250, then every contributor will receive a $10 payment instead of royalties). The book will be printed and distributed by IngramSpark, Amazon and Books on Demand.

We hope to have the book ready to print by the end of the Kickstarter Campaign (October with Halloween in everyone’s minds).

For this first Kickstarter, we will be having a popular geeky theme of Cthulhu Mythos poetry and art. Submissions that are not on theme will be rejected. Submit 3–8 poems or 3–8 pieces of art. There will only be 20 contributors, but at least 3 pieces will be accepted per contributor.

Send the pieces as individual files. For poetry, we prefer Pages files, but RTF, Word or PDF will work.
