We're after art that holds its own beside writing — work with a point of view, not decoration. We're primarily interested in drawing, painting, printmaking, and collage.

We're slower to take work that illustrates an idea rather than having one.

Up to five images. JPG or PNG, at least 2000 pixels on the long edge, RGB.

Include a title for each image, along with the medium and year. If an image has appeared in a physical exhibition but not online, tell us. We'll consider it.

Send one art submission at a time and wait for a response before sending another. You may have one open submission across all genres.

Accepted images may run on their own, paired with a micro, set alongside a poem, used as cover art for an issue, or other commercial uses. They may also appear in anthologies drawn from our archive.

Images remain eligible for the printed annual and for award nominations.

Yes. Withdraw here as soon as a piece is placed.

We don't accept work that has appeared online, including on your own site or social media.

We publish human work.

Please don't send images generated by AI, in whole or in part. Digital tools are fine. The image should be yours.

We aim to respond within 30 days. If it's been longer than 60 days, please query.

Inkhorn Review pays $40 per accepted work of art, sent on publication day. Payment upon initial publication covers all uses.

Submissions are free. Tips are welcome and go toward the contributor fund, but they have no bearing on how work is read or selected.

We acquire first North American serial rights and non-exclusive rights to reprint the work in our annual print edition, anthologies drawn from our own archives, and to use the image in promotion of the issue and other commercial uses. All other rights remain with you.
