Generativity welcomes submissions online from October 15th to December 15th for our Spring Issue: “Roots and Wings.”

Do you have a story about what anchors you and what makes you reach upward? Perhaps a story that explores leaving the familiar whether it’s a pattern, a place, a person, or a version of yourself? Maybe a series of poems about a comforting family tradition you carry on? Or a piece of visual art that captures helping your grandmother tend her garden or an essay about time you watched the migration of birds float and dive as if they were one.

We are looking for poems that explore belonging, memories, home, traditions, growing up, dreams, courage and the experiences that help shape who we are.

If you're as inspired by the concept of the things that anchor us and things that help us fly, as we are, we want to hear about it! Send us your best writing or and visual art that centers on the theme: Roots and Wings.

Adult Poetry: Generativity typically publishes multiple pages of poetry by each poet we feature. For consideration, submit 4-6 pages of poetry or one long poem. Please format and submit as a single document. We expect translators to acquire translation rights before submitting.

We do not accept unsolicited manuscripts outside this period. We are committed to supporting authors at all stages in their careers. All manuscripts receive serious, careful attention; each submission is read by a published writer. We aim to respond to submissions within 4-5 months.

Payment and Copyright

Generativity buys first North American serial rights only. All other rights revert to the author at publication, but we offer formal, written reassignments upon request. We ask that whenever an author reprints work that first appeared in our pages, Generativity will be given acknowledgment for the specific work(s) involved.

Work previously published in any form will not be considered. Please notify us if any part of your submission is known to be included in a book already accepted by a publisher and include the anticipated date of book publication. Additionally, the author grants Generativity a non-exclusive perpetual right to republish the work in any future print or digital anthology curated by Generativity, with proper contributor notification and complimentary copies.
