FROST ZONE STORIES publishes dark literary, quiet horror, and literary horror short stories between 1800-3800 words (approx. 200-word leeway if your story requires).

This is a biannual print and electronic/eBook publication (not online) with issues in the spring and autumn.

FROST ZONE STORIES is a Canadian publication. We welcome all authors, but please read details in our submission guidelines regarding submitters who are outside of Canada. Please mention your general location (Country) in either your bio or cover letter. We will request your full mailing address only if your story is accepted.

Spring 2025 will see the publication of Book 1, our first issue.

Frost Zone Stories seeks original, clear, concise, short stories, preferably of 1800-3800 words, with 200-word leeway if your story requires it; in other words min. 1600 firm, max. 4000 firm.

We publish dark literary fiction, quiet horror, and literary horror.

This covers a wide range of subject matter including shadowy, bleak literary stories, tales of the supernatural, folk horror, hauntings, misadventure, psychological horror and more - including:

the unexpected, the dreadful, the chilling, and the strange.

If you are unsure, send it -BUT-
we're sorry, even though we are fans of a wide range of dark fiction and horror, this is not the place for extreme horror, ultra violence, or erotica.

We offer author's choice of: a token payment plus one print copy, or two print copies.
