What we're looking for

We are looking for high-quality nonfiction that will leave a lasting impression on our intelligent readers. Maybe that's an essay, a book review, or a think piece. We look for work that touches upon the topics of femininity, womanhood, identity, empowerment, and/or pop culture. These topics are nuanced, and we want to showcase their complexity. Whether your writing is funny, thought-provoking, or serious, please make sure it's the very best you can make it.

We do not have a set word limit on nonfiction pieces. In general, we advise keeping submissions between 1,000-6,000 words.

Policy on AI

We do not accept any submissions generated by artificial intelligence. By submitting, you certify that you work is entirely your own. If you intentionally misrepresent AI work as your own, Literally reserves the right to reject, withdraw, or remove your work from our publication. Authors that repeatedly submit AI-generated work for consideration will be flagged and automatically disqualified for submissions in future issues.
