Lost Penny Press One Act Play Submissions

Lost Penny Press hopes to bring to print two one act plays a year.

Editions will be perfect bound with a flat spine and an ISBN and a Library of Congress Catalog number. Each play will be supported by a launch party/staged reading, in our professional venue space, social media posts, and the opportunity to share table space with us at local and regional festivals.

We're looking for one act plays, suitable for staged reading. No more than a 30 min run time. Open to original work in any genre or style. Open to surprises. We are seeking work that uses the magic and play of theater, the speaking into existence, to connect with audiences about being human in our times. You must be either local to Chicago or willing to travel for the lost penny event, rehearsal and staged reading/production. We will have 2-3 rehearsals the week of the event.

We won't tolerate hate speech of any kind.

Racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, classism, ageism, etc. Pornography that serves no other purpose. AI created content. You know exactly what we mean, don’t pretend you don’t.
