I’m open to publishing visual art of just about any type, so long as it is of professional quality and says something interesting in a new way. Cartoons and line drawings are especially welcome here. Moocat.net does not accept or publish pornographic images. Any such images sent will be immediately deleted and the sender’s email address blocked.

Original works only. Exclusive submissions strongly preferred (and acted on first). Simultaneous submissions will be reviewed only after all exclusive submissions have been reviewed. Only works sent in via the online submission form will be considered.

Target no. of images: 3 - 20. Images should be larger than 60 x 60 px but height and width must be no larger than 2000 px. Acceptable file formats include JPG, JPEG, PNG, TIF, and PSD. For best results, I suggest JPG format for photographs. Files will be opened on a PC for consideration, so please save files in PC format if using a Mac or a Linux OS.

Currently, our submission form accepts image URLs rather than file uploads. If your work is not available online, you can host it for free at Google Drive, Dropbox, or Imgur and paste the shared link into the Image URL field. Please ensure the link is set to public viewing. If you can’t use any of the above, you can contact me via the Contact Us form and explain your situation; you may be able to send in your art images via email, if they are smaller than 5MB.

Try to keep videos no longer than about 10 minutes. Longer pieces will be considered on a case-by-case basis. If your video link is password-protected, you can include the password in the “Notes to Editor field” of the form.

Limit bios to 50 words max. You may include your photo to appear in the bio. Bio photos will be presented as 80 x 100 px images in greyscale, but it’s best to submit a high-res photo, in case it needs to be cropped.

Use your bio to tell readers about you as a writer or creator and to record where your work has appeared. A short list of prior publications and any forthcoming ones is welcome, as is a link to your own website or portfolio.

Do not include links to or handles for social media platforms, nor links for purchasing your books or other merchandise through Amazon or other commercial storefronts. If your book is available, include the title and its publisher; readers can take it from there.

People age, but our bios shouldn’t. If you wish to update your bio at any time to show more recent publications, please contact us, and we’ll do our best to oblige.

Please include an artist’s statement offering your thoughts about the work, the process, what is it that made you want to work in this medium, or what you are interested in as an artist. It can be formal or conversational in tone, but keep it 50-300 words.

I will only post material sent from contributors with a working e-mail address, which I will use exclusively for communicating with about the work. Your email address will not be published, unless you explicitly request it.

Submit

Moocat.net publishes new comic voices, light, medium, and dark (although subject to some judgment on content). Self-effacing humor is always welcome, as are parody and satire. The general voice of the magazine is gentle, but comedy is free to be "adult," so long as it's funny.

Work with strong adult language may feature an "Adult Content Advisory," just to protect the kids out there from too much darkness, but the advisory message disappears for readers permanently once acknowledged.

Length

If your piece is rather conventional satire or parody, it may fit better in the Essays category. Material submitted for the Comedy section can be from 500 to 2,000 words long. It can be words, video, art, or a mix of any of those. Especially interested in:

• Cartooning, which may appear in either this section or Art, depending on the nature of the work.
• RADIO COMEDY (audio only). Nuff said.

We publish travel narratives, that is, literary memoirs about life that happens while traveling, to exotic or mundane locales, anywhere on Earth. We publish writing in which place and narrator are both key characters and the journey is both inner and outer (without flatly telling us so).

Travelogs can be from 1000 to 2000 words long. Looking for personal narratives of travel to anywhere on Earth (inside or outside of the United States) that reflect gently on place, people, observations of what you see, eat, smell, hear.

Theme for Upcoming Issue

The theme of the Winter 2026 issue is "Thank you, but..." True tales of being wrongly accused of having done something wonderful (and how you responded). We've all been wrongly accused at times of doing something wrong, whether serious or ephemeral, but more interesting are those few times when we have been assumed to have done something wonderful, great, amazing, or even just "interesting" that we simply had nothing to do with. We are looking for just such accounts, of true stories (pseudonyms for persons involved allowed).

Uninterested in pornography or religious fervor for religious fervor’s sake, but poetry on adult themes will be considered. Any content published with strong adult language or themes may feature an “Adult Content Advisory” popup upon first load on a computer, requiring the user to agree that they are adult and okay with such content.
