MOONROT Cosmic Daffodil Journal Gold Star Program Gold Star

Introducing MOONROT: The Little Sister of Cosmic Daffodil Journal

MOONROT is a literary and art magazine devoted to the beautiful corrosion of things.

Where Cosmic Daffodil Journal tends the mythic bloom, MOONROT documents what happens after—when petals bruise, when light curdles, when devotion becomes obsession and grief refuses to be instructive.

We are interested in rot not as failure, but as transformation. In lunar cycles. In feral tenderness. In voices that scrape instead of soothe. In work that embraces darkness without apologizing for it and refuses the demand to heal neatly.

MOONROT is punk, nocturnal, and unflinching. We publish writing and art that lives in the margins: messy, myth-touched, bone-deep. This is a home for the unpretty truth, the sacred grotesque, and the poetry that still breathes even after everything else has decayed.

Autumn Rot Temp Closed

Opens on Thursday, June 17, 2027 12:00 AM EDT (in 279 days).

MOONROT welcomes submissions of Poetry, Prose, Fiction, and Visual Art/Photography. We are drawn to work that is immersive, lyrical, and unafraid of shadow—pieces that explore myth, transformation, longing, decay, devotion, the body, the cosmos, and the strange beauty of becoming. We gravitate toward strong narrative voices, vivid imagery, and work that lingers—whether through haunting metaphor, emotional resonance, or a bold reimagining of folklore and the surreal. We accept previously unpublished work and encourage experimental forms as well as traditional structures, provided they feel intentional and alive. Above all, we seek art that feels necessary: work that risks something, reveals something, or leaves a mark.

Poetry/Prose: up to 5 pieces

Fiction: up to 3 pieces (max word count on each is 1000)

Visual Art/Photography

A $1 submission fee helps support the ongoing costs of running the journal and keeping MOONROT sustainable; additional tips are always welcome and deeply appreciated.
