Sapling Lit is an independent press running a literary journal created to amplify the earth's voices. We want pieces of short fiction, poetry, and creative nonfiction, that embody the theme of environmental activism however the writer decides to interpret that theme. Whether its an essay on sustainability, a vivid landscape poem, or a story from the perspective of an animal, we would love to read your work.

We publish online and encourage anyone with a love for the environment, no matter what gender, race, sexuality, or age you are, to submit.

As long as your work contains themes of environmental advocacy, we'd love to read it! We leave it up to the writer to interpret that theme however they wish. Submission is Free!

We are looking for previously unpublished Flash and Micro Fiction up to 1,000 words(We accept Vignettes), Creative Nonfiction or Essays up to 1,500 words, and Poetry up to 40 lines. Please only submit once during each submission period, or until we have gotten back to you. For Poetry, you may submit up to 3 poems at once, all within the same document.

We welcome any to submit, regardless of race, gender, sexuality, or age. Any writing with derogatory or pejorative language will be disqualified. Any work that uses AI of any form, will also be disqualified.

If you provide a tip on submission, we will try to get back to you within two weeks. Otherwise, we will try to get back to you within two weeks. Whether you tipped will not affect our decision, just how long it takes for us to get back to you. Tips help us keep Sapling Lit free for all readers and writers, as a place to use writing to advocate for environmental issues.
