Ann Collette was a freelance writer and editor before joining the Rees Literary Agency in 2000. In fiction, Ann represents literary, upscale commercial women's, crime (including mystery, thriller and psychological suspense), upscale western (more Larry McMurtry than Cormac McCarthy), historical (any period, but especially seeking ancient Greece or ancient Rome), military and war, and horror (scary stuff only, no gentle vampires or caring werewolves). Her secret desires: anything that features martial arts, biker gangs, fiction set in Southeast Asia, or a kick ass female protagonist. In nonfiction, she represents narrative, military and war (particularly the Asian theater in WWII), books on race and class, works set in Southeast Asia, biography, pop culture, books on film and opera, humor, and memoir with high-quality prose. She does not represent children's and YA, Christian, erotica, romance, sci-fi or high fantasy (Lord of the Rings-type novels), books on religion, philosophy or parenting.
