The Martell Agency, in operation over twenty years, is a full service boutique agency. We believe in having a strong, close relationship with our authors, being supportive and personally involved throughout their careers, not only representing their books, but working with them to build a strong presence in all media. We are involved with our clients’ choices regarding potential projects and we orchestrate the disposition of all related rights to each book, from translation and electronic to entertainment rights. We co-agent with a number of different high profile agencies in Hollywood for entertainment rights and have a network of committed, experienced and energetic agents overseas to partner with us in connection with the licensing of foreign rights. Since agenting is primarily a service business, we believe strongly that we have an absolute responsibility to be available and responsive to our clients. The agency list covers an eclectic range of books, narrative non-fiction, investigative reporting, history, memoir, self help, cookbooks, literary and commercial fiction (excluding science fiction and fantasy) and quirky titles that fall in between these categories. The pivotal point being that if we believe in a project, we want to represent it. Alice Fried Martell is an attorney, who practiced law before founding the agency.
