It's not uncommon to feel disconnected, alone, and unsupported.

Our profile pages bridge our separate, solitary creative lives into a community where we support one another and celebrate our achievements.

How does it work?

Anyone can create a profile to participate in the community. You just need to sign up or log in if you already have an account. Everyone starts with a basic profile, although subscribers unlock more features (see below).

When you submit, you can share your profile link to help show your legitimacy, which is becoming increasingly necessary in the age of generative "AI."

You can search or browse the Directory and catch up on the latest News from the Community.

Support your fellow writers and artists by sending them High Fives.

What perks do subscribers get?

Subscribers receive an enhanced profile that offers deeper ways to connect. As a subscriber, you can:

• Announce your publications and latest releases.
• Personalize your page with a profile picture and an image of your favorite creative space.
• Participate in Rejection Road (see below)
• Help people get to know you through our Interview

How do High Fives work?

Want to support a fellow creator? You can send a High Five to anyone with a visible profile.

To keep the focus on genuine connection, you can only send one High Five per recipient in a day (UTC). We intentionally do not tally or display the number of High Fives. This space is designed to foster creative solidarity and to celebrate individual milestones, not to host a popularity contest. A High Five is a gesture of encouragement, visible only to the recipient for a limited time.

What is Rejection Road? (subscribers only)

Rejection is universal, and sometimes it feels endless. Everyone understands this, but that doesn't take the sting out of rejection's bite. Rejection Road aims to reframe the submission process as a journey towards eventual success. We're all on separate paths, but we experience the same trials and tribulations. On Rejection Road, we support one another on our separate journeys, celebrating the victories and offering compassion for the minor setbacks along the way.

How does it work? Opt in on your Profile page. Then, simply report your submissions, and we'll distill your recent activity into a few key figures. Visit the Rejection Road page to see how your fellow creators' experiences compare to your own: a little perspective and a chance to cheer each other on.

What about privacy?

Duotrope remains as privacy-centric as ever. When you create a profile, you can set it to:

• Public: Anyone can see your profile.
• Members Only: Only the Duotrope community (logged-in members) can see your profile.
• Hidden: Only you can see your profile and your achievements. Since your profile is hidden, you will not be able to receive High Fives, but you can still send them.

Additionally, if you choose Public or Members Only, you can select whether your profile can be listed in the Duotrope Directory and Community News or indexed by search engines*.

For example, if you want your profile to be accessible to outside editors but you don't want it to be indexed and included in the directory, select Public but do not include it in the Directory or search engines.

You can easily change these settings at any time.

* Our pages include tags that tell search engines whether they can or can't index the page. That said, the search engines decide when they process requests.
