Rashan Speller is a Philadelphia-based multidisciplinary artist and writer whose work explores the unstable boundaries between consciousness, identity, spirituality, psychology, and the human experience. Working across visual art and writing, Speller is interested in the places where the rational and the mysterious collide. His practice draws from mythology, symbolism, philosophy, history, and psychological inquiry to examine questions surrounding the self: how identity is constructed, how experience reshapes perception, and what exists beneath the identities we inherit and create. With a background in graphic design and visual art, Speller approaches his work through a highly visual and conceptual lens. His imagery often functions as a language of its own, using metaphor, surrealism, symbolism, and distorted forms to give physical shape to ideas that are difficult to express directly.
