Irene Riz is a biomedical scientist holding a PhD. After years of cancer research — inspired by childhood impressions and the cancer death of someone close to her — she left the bench for full-time writing, to share her fascination with the imperfect and precious world. A bilingual Russian-English poet, her first collection, Gleamts by a Mildly Damaged, was published by Floating Ice Press in 2026.
