Contemplative poems of faith, nature, and waking

Poetry

George is a poet based in San Diego, California. At seventy-four, he has arrived at poetry not as a career but as a calling, after decades in sales — a working life built on conversation and the quiet reading of people.

A practicing Orthodox Christian, George also carries a lifelong engagement with the teachings of G.I. Gurdjieff, and his work moves between these two traditions — liturgical and esoteric — toward the same essential mystery: that we are asleep, and waking is the work of a lifetime.

A lifelong outdoorsman — hiker, camper, fisherman, freediver — George's nature poems open onto memory, grief, or revelation. He also writes ekphrastic poems, in conversation with painting, sculpture, and architecture.

He trusts the body's knowledge over abstraction, and the image's silence over explanation.
