Marchel Alverson is the indie author of three books, Painted on Souls, Savor the Sweetness, and Kissed by Madness. Her debut historical fiction novel, To Dance Under the Weeping Tree, won the AAMBC pitch competition. She is the founder and CEO of Marchel INK Writing & Editing Services LLC. Her upcoming personal essay, “Hate in the Soil,” will be featured in the upcoming We the 92% anthology.
Marchel is a Thorpe Menn Literary Excellence Award Nominee; she was selected as a member of the Women and Words cohort in conjunction with Penguin Random House. She has worked in the nonprofit sector as a marketing and communications professional for over 20 years. She is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Marchel holds a master’s degree in communications from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg. She resides in Kansas City.
