ISO agent for my teaching in China memoir

Fiction Nonfiction

Paul Martin Bauer writes literary short stories, flash fiction, novels, and essays about ordinary people who find themselves in extraordinary situations. His work blends vivid settings with humor and empathy.

At 53, he shuttered his grant writing consultancy, quit his IT job, and moved to China, where he ended up teaching Canadian History, American Social Studies and American Literature to Chinese high schoolers. While they were initially curious about how this man had wandered into their classroom, they quickly formed an unforgettable bond, and a deep, mutual love grew between the students and "Teacher Paul." The experience was challenging, enlightening, often hilarious, almost fatal, and it continues to fuel his fascination with reinvention, resilience, and unscripted plot twists.
