Meta-Art practice through the gaze of the flâneur

Poetry Visual Art

In a world of algorithmically curated purpose and neighbourly comparisons in which we often lack the introduction, Pieter's work identifies with the archetype of the flâneur, separate from the crowd, an inherent quest for meaning through self-reflection, a melancholic search for something deeper and the lessons at life’s marrow. Pieter's intent is to reflexively add said richness to it’s words by creating a cypher of individual meaning, threading together layered cultural references, both surface and B-side, a love for allegory and metaphor, philosophy, phonetic textures, and leaning into language child-like play through homonyms, semantic shifts, neo and protologisms, portmanteaus, and polysemy. A strung together lure of thought processes, dragging the reader through interdisciplinary and inarguably human life experiences and wonder, hopefully to catch their own takeaways and crack open an “Easter egg” or two, allowing for future unravelment during times devoid of connection.
