Laura Rikono is a marine scientist whose fieldwork experience ranges from coral reef expeditions in Southeast Asia to stints as a fisheries observer on North Atlantic trawlers. She now lives on the coast of Sabah, Malaysian Borneo, with her Kadazandusun family, and writes literary science fiction, fantasy, and fiction of the sea. Her stories are often peopled by small caretakers of enormous systems who use dry humour to explore dark places.
